Free Health Medical Screening 2026: A Resounding Success in Komarock
A Call to Care
In the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul, who dedicated his life to serving the poor and marginalized, the Congregation of the Mission Vice-Province of Kenya, together with the ASE-Dorothea Mission, extended a hand of compassion to the community of Komarock and its surrounding areas. From August 6th – 7th, 2026, we hosted a two-day Free Health Medical Screening at the Miraculous Medal Centre—and the response was nothing short of extraordinary.
The invitation was simple: free healthcare for all, regardless of age, gender, or background. No discrimination. No age limit. Just open arms and a commitment to holistic well-being. And the community answered the call with overwhelming enthusiasm.
Day One: A Sea of Gratitude

The morning of August 6th began with a buzz of anticipation. By 8:00 AM, the Miraculous Medal Centre was already alive with activity. Hundreds of community members from young children to the elderly had gathered, eager to take charge of their health.
Our dedicated team of medical professionals, nurses, staff, and volunteers worked tirelessly throughout the day, offering a comprehensive range of services, including:
- Blood Pressure Checks – Monitoring cardiovascular health
- Fasting and Random Blood Sugar Tests – Screening for diabetes and glucose-related conditions
- General Health Consultations – One-on-one professional medical advice
- HIV Testing – Confidential and compassionate testing services
- Blood Grouping – Essential for emergency and prenatal care
- Antenatal Care – Supporting expecting mothers with essential check-ups
The atmosphere was electric with gratitude. Smiles filled the room as community members received care that many had long delayed due to cost or access. The elderly were attended to with patience, parents brought their children for check-ups, and expecting mothers received much-needed prenatal attention.
“I have not had my blood pressure checked in over two years. Today, I not only got checked, but I also received advice on how to manage it. I am deeply grateful.”
By the end of Day One, it was clear that this initiative had touched a deep need within the community. But the best was yet to come. “I am proud of what I am seeing going on at Komarock at the medical camp,” says Fr. Benson Odhiambo, CM, following the event away from the country.
Day Two: A Celebration of Community

Day Two brought even greater energy. The word had spread, and community members arrived in even larger numbers, some returning with family members, others coming for the first time. The lines were long, but the atmosphere remained one of patience, unity, and shared purpose.
Volunteers and medical staff worked seamlessly, ensuring that every individual received quality care and attention. Whether it was a quick blood sugar test or a detailed consultation, each service was delivered with dignity, respect, and a smile.
By the end of the two days, we had served hundreds of individuals, a testament to the deep need for accessible healthcare in our communities and the incredible spirit of togetherness that defines the people of Komarock.
Walking Together in the Spirit of St. Vincent DePaul

This event was never just about medical check-ups. It was a living expression of our mission to walk together in the footsteps of St. Vincent de Paul. A mission rooted in compassion, service, and a profound belief in the dignity of every human person.
In a world where healthcare is often out of reach for many, we stand firm in our conviction that health is a right, not a privilege. This screening was a small but meaningful step toward bridging that gap, showing that when we come together as a community, we can create real, tangible change.
“We came to serve, but we received so much more. The warmth, the trust, and the enthusiasm of the people here have renewed our commitment to this work,” Fr. Humphreys Makokha, CM.
Gratitude from the Heart

We extend our deepest and most sincere gratitude to:
- Every community member who showed up, trusted us, and allowed us to serve you. You are the heart of this mission.

- The ASE-Dorothea Mission for their unwavering partnership and vision. Sr. Edelqueen Okeka ASE, nurses, counselors, and support staff, whose dedication and professionalism made this event a success.
- The Congregation of the Mission Vice-Province of Kenya administration; Fr. Benson, Fr. Humphreys, Fr. Samuel, Mrs. Victoria, Mr. Barack and staff for the spiritual and organizational leadership that brought this initiative to life.
In a special way we say THANK YOU to the Mission Advancement Office – Western Province. Your collective effort and generosity of spirit are what transform a simple screening into a movement of hope.
What’s Next? Building a Brighter Future Together
While this medical screening has come to a close, our commitment to the community of Komarock and beyond is only just beginning. The overwhelming turnout and the stories we shared have reaffirmed what we already knew: sustainable change requires holistic development. We believe that true transformation goes beyond healthcare. It must encompass education, access to clean water, and food security. That is why we are actively investing in long-term initiatives that address these foundational needs.

A New Dawn in Education: Miraculous Medal School
Education is the cornerstone of a thriving community. With this vision, the Congregation of the Mission are proud to announce the opening of Miraculous Medal School—a new learning institution dedicated to providing quality, values-based education to children in the area. ADMISSION ARE NOW IN PROGRESS! We warmly welcome parents and guardians to enroll their children and give them the gift of a bright future. At Miraculous Medal School, we are committed to nurturing not only academic excellence but also character, discipline, and the spirit of service values that have guided our mission for generations.

💧 Water for Life: Supplying Clean Water to the Community
Access to clean and safe water is a basic human right, yet too many families still struggle to find it. In response, we have begun initiatives to supply reliable water to the community, ensuring that households have access to this precious resource. Clean water means better health, improved hygiene, and a foundation upon which families can build better lives.

Investing in Farming: Growing Food, Nourishing Families
Hunger and food insecurity remain pressing challenges. To address this, we have invested in sustainable farming projects designed to produce nutritious food for the community. By cultivating land and promoting agricultural practices, we aim to provide a steady supply of food for families in need reducing dependency and fostering self-reliance.
These farming efforts are not just about feeding people today; they are about building a future where every family has enough to eat and the means to sustain themselves with dignity.
A Holistic Vision
Health, education, water, and food these are the pillars of a dignified life. Through the Miraculous Medal School, our water supply initiatives, and agricultural investments, we are working to address the root causes of poverty and vulnerability. We are walking together with you, not just in moments of crisis, but every step of the way.
We invite the entire community to partner with us in this journey. Whether by enrolling a child in Miraculous Medal School, supporting our farming projects, or simply spreading the word, your participation makes all the difference.
“Walking together in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul.”
